See if you can spot the connections. This morning, Alberto Gonzales resigned. Finally. Don’t let the door hit you in ass on the way out, Fredo. I hope to see you and Turd Blossom in front of congressional hearings soon to answer for your misdeeds.
But the Attorney General resigning couldn’t even hold the headlines for a full day. Later in the day it was reported that conservative Republican Senator Larry Craig pleaded guilty earlier this month to disorderly conduct in an airport men’s restroom. Craig preaches high moral values, yes his arrest report cited “lewd conduct.” Nope — nothing gay or lewd about soliciting sex from an adjoining stall in the men’s room. Up is down and black is white. Craig now “regrets” pleading guilty.
Michael Vick is really, really, really, really sorry today and said he needs to grow up. Oh, and he also found Jesus and has turned his life over to God because he thinks that’s a pretty good thing to do, at least for now (I paraphrase, but that’s basically what he said). I watched his press statement on ESPN this evening. Vick seemed so sincere a nearby crocodile was spotted crying.
Do you see the pattern? Deflect any and all criticism. Say anything, no matter how false or insincere … just as long as it deflects. And hide from any remaining criticism behind religion.
You forgot Owen Wilson’s apparent suicide attempt, Britney’s custody woes and Miss South Carolina’s brilliant response to her question during the Miss Teen USA pageant. Let’s see, did I miss anything from Drudge? I tried watching Monday Night Football on ESPN, but it was really just a Vick-a-thon with a game going in the background. Glad ABC freed up their Monday night line up so we can have more Wife Swap, Fat March and Supernanny. Didn’t Paris Hilton find God too? Maybe they could get together and compare notes. We all try to hide from criticism, Religion is just one of the many rocks we hide behind. . . or under. . .
Whoa! What’d I do? 0.o
No relation to you, Fredo. As I recall, Bush’s nickname for Alberto Gonzales was “Fredo” — based on the name of the weak brother in the Godfather movies. Sounds appropriate … he was little more than a Bush-Cheney-Rove puppet.
I watched the Vick conference (how could you not) and if he was contrite, I’m the fucking Pope! These athletes get away with way too much. Did you know that the thugs at good old PSU (Scirotto and Baker) are going to start this weekend? Where as Quarless who was cited for underage drinking after curfew is off the team indefinitely. No wonder we have the Michael Vicks of the world. I will be the first to start the bandwagon this year “Joe must go”!
